For over 16 years, I have been involved in shaping the development of electric mobility in Switzerland – from the first pilot projects to large-scale charging infrastructure that is relevant to the system. Back in 2009, at a time when electric vehicles were still a dream of the future, I actively promoted the development of electric mobility and implemented numerous pioneering projects.
During this time, I had the opportunity to help shape groundbreaking charging infrastructure projects, co-develop standards, and implement complex projects in a challenging technical and regulatory environment. These included national and international fast-charging projects, the standardization of charging technologies, and the development of sustainable business and operating models.
A key part of my experience lies in strategic purchasing and investment decisions. As former head of purchasing at Alpiq InTec, I was responsible for complex procurement processes and the economic evaluation of large infrastructure projects. This perspective continues to shape my work today: investments are not only assessed from a technical perspective, but always from a business, long-term, and risk-aware perspective as well.
Over the past 16 years, I have also provided strategic consulting services to numerous vehicle manufacturers, particularly on issues relating to charging infrastructure, market entry strategies, customer requirements, and the scaling of electric mobility solutions. This has given me a deep understanding of the requirements and mindsets of both the vehicle and energy and infrastructure sides of the industry.
Another focus of my work has been and continues to be collaboration with charging infrastructure providers. I am familiar with a large number of charging station manufacturers, their technologies, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as the requirements for reliable operation in the field. Particular attention is paid to simplifying payment and billing systems. The integration of user-friendly payment methods such as credit cards or TWINT was a decisive step in making charging infrastructure accessible, scalable, and marketable for end customers.
I have always taken a holistic view of charging infrastructure: from grid connection, transformers, approval procedures, and subsidy models to operation, maintenance, billing, and integration into IT and energy systems. Issues such as load management, electricity procurement, electricity management, and electricity trading are inextricably linked to successful electromobility and require close cooperation with partners from the IT and electricity industries.
Today, my focus is on strategic large-scale projects, the intelligent integration of charging infrastructure into holistic energy systems, and new challenges such as bidirectional charging and the electrification of heavy-duty transport. Powerful grid connections, intelligent load management, and economical operating models are particularly crucial in the field of electric trucks.
My goal is to support companies, public institutions, and investors in making informed decisions, reducing complexity, and implementing sustainable, economically viable solutions for the mobility of tomorrow.
